New IT Contracts Simplify Process and Save Money
DOAS State Purchasing has recently entered into new contracts for both IT software and PC hardware purchases.
Thanks in a large part to the collaborative efforts of the IT PC Hardware Category team, State Purchasing has finalized new contracts for the purchase of PC hardware with Dell, Gateway, and Lenovo. One or more additional vendors could be added in the near future. One of the keys to the new agreements is a series of standard configurations which not only simplify the selection process, but also reduce the costs.
As a result of direct negotiations, the agreements provide a number of major contract improvements to the WSCA1 contract. The benefits include:
- Assurance of aggressive market prices for standard configurations, even as standard configurations evolve – the best value at the lowest cost
- Guaranteed State of Georgia autonomy, as a participating member of WSCA, to define the state’s own standard configurations today as well as moving forward
-
Improved visibility of State’s IT investment and vendor performance
- Improved communication and relationship with suppliers
The state’s new software agreement makes Dell the exclusive provider of software. The agreement, coordinated by the Georgia Department of Administrative Services and the Georgia Technology Authority, will enable the state to better manage procurement costs and more closely track what software is being used.
(1) WSCA (Western States Cooperative Alliance) is a consortium of 15 participating states
